TABLESCAPE 3: FREEDOM FROM CHOICE

2010, Los Angeles County Fair (awarded: Best in Show and Audience Favorite)

The Ebersole Hughes Company are award-winning “tablescapers.”
Tablescaping is the art of setting a thematic table.

In our third year of competition, we became champions. The judges loosened the categories, including one that was simply called “Freedom Of Choice” — meaning do whatever the F you want. We thought that was against the whole principle of needing to conform to chosen themes, so we rebelled a bit, making our table all orange, and calling it “Freedom From Choice” with the subtitle “What If There Were No Horse of a Different Color: Orange You Glad We Have Freedom of Choice?” We even included an orange baby, but that seemed to elude the judges who gave us a perfect score of 100. Attendees agreed, voting us Audience Favorite. What color was the ribbon? Orange.
